Overview & History
Completed in 2012, Tokyo Skytree replaced Tokyo Tower as the region’s primary broadcasting facility. At 634 meters (2,080 feet), the numbers “6-3-4” can be read as “Mu-sa-shi,” the historic name of the Tokyo region.
Beyond its function, it has become Tokyo’s premier tourist destination, blending futuristic architecture with traditional Japanese beauty (“Sori” and “Mukuri” curves). Whether you’re here for the panoramic views, the expansive Solamachi shopping center, or the cultural proximity to Asakusa, Skytree is an essential stop on any 2026 itinerary.

Known as the “world’s highest skywalk,” this sloping spiral ramp takes you from floor 445 to 450. It feels like walking in the sky and is less crowded than the main deck.

Pro Tips for 2026
📸 Secret Photo Spot
Head to the Kitajikken River just east of the tower. The reflection of the illuminated Skytree in the water is magical at night.
☀️ Best Time for Fuji
Early mornings in winter (Nov-Feb) offer the highest chance of clear visibility to see Mt. Fuji from the deck.
🛍️ Tax-Free Shopping
Most shops in Solamachi offer tax-free shopping for tourists. Bring your passport!
🚫 Avoid Crowds
Avoid Japanese National Holidays (Golden Week in May, Obon in August). Weekday mornings are your best bet.
